Rachel Fulford – Vice President, Creative Affairs for Blueprint entertainment was most recently director of Original Production at showcase, a Canadian specialty service known for boundary-pushing programming. She worked on all aspects of development and production with the creators of Trailer Park Boys, Paradise Falls, Kenny vs. Spenny, Rent-A-Goalie and many other innovative Canadian shows.
Fulford started at Showcase in 1998 in acquisitions, and quickly moved into a development and commissioning role when Showcase began funding its own programs. In addition to the series listed above, she served as Production Executive on Queer As Folk, Naked Josh, Exes and Ohs, Moccasin Flats, The Newsroom II and III, Moose TV, G-Spot III and three half-hour pilots including The Foundation. She spearheaded several Trailer Park Boys spin-offs including the feature film, the Christmas Special, the upcoming hour-long Special and three behind-the-scenes documentaries.
Awards for programs she has Production Exec’d include Geminis for Comedy Series, Ensemble Cast and Viewer’s Choice (Trailer Park Boys), Geminis for Directing and Editing and a Writer’s Guild Award (Naked Josh), Canadian Comedy Awards for Director and Actress (Rent-A-Goalie), a Gemini for Writing and an International Emmy for Comedy Series (The Newsroom II).
Many of the shows Fulford worked on have been co-funded with broadcast partners including Showtime, CBC, Comedy Central, APTN, Logo, HERE!tv, Oxygen, TMN and Movie Central. She also helped develop and facilitate new online content for Showcase.ca including webisodes for Kenny vs. Spenny and Rent-A-Goalie.
She has pre-licensed several feature films including the homegrown box-office hit Trailer Park Boys: The Movie, Monkey Warfare (Special Jury Award at the Toronto International Film Festival) and Sabah: A Love Story (Genie nominations for best actress and score). She sat on the 2007 TIFF Short Film Jury. She also served on the board of the imagineNATIVE film + media festival for three years. In partnership with the festival, she initiated several hands-on mentorship programs for Aboriginal directors. As a supporter of new talent, she participated in many training programs for writers and producers and served on juries for Telefilm, The Academy of Canadian Film and Television, WIFT-T, the OMDC, the NSI, Algonquin College, the Worldwide Short Film Festival and the Canadian Film Centre.
