Comedy Central Picks Up Canadian Series Kenny Vs. Spenny

Mon, Oct 1st 2007

NEW YORK - Through an agreement with Blueprint Entertainment and Breakthrough Films & Television, Comedy Central has acquired ten new episodes of the reality comedy series Kenny vs. Spenny, premiering November 14.

As part of the deal the network will also license 10 existing episodes from the Kenny vs. Spenny library.

Kenny vs. Spenny pits childhood friends against each other in silly competitions. The winner achieves short-term bragging rights, while the loser must perform a humiliating stunt of the winner’s choosing.

The series was created by and stars Kenny Hotz and Spencer Rice, with South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone joining the executive team for the new episodes. The new episodes will be produced by Blueprint Entertainment and Breakthrough Films & Television in association with Showcase in Canada.

"Kenny vs. Spenny is a show that everyone can directly relate to," said Lauren Corroa, Comedy Central's executive VP of original programming and development. "Who among us hasn't challenged someone to a staring contest or dared a friends to wear a dead octopus on their head longer than you can? Viewers in Canada have really taken to the on-going rivalry between Kenny and Spenny, taking sides and rooting for their favorite. When Matt Stone and Trey Parker wanted to be involved in bringing the show to Comedy Central, it was a collaboration we couldn't resist."
