Suddenly Samantha - forever funneled through the foster system - is rooming with a mid-west beauty queen, dating the college's football hero, befriending a neurotic (and Canadian) film student and borrowing designer dresses from a dethroned teen television queen. She's found herself in a different kind of dysfunctional family, for sure - but Samantha will do anything to keep them together.
Problem is, Samantha's not even sure she can afford to keep herself - at least not at U of B. Her scholarship is academic-only. Room and board? She's on her own. Samantha's going to have to sacrifice some of her precious study time when she lands a coveted job at Decompression, Boston's hottest club. Partying where she works, or vice-versa, wasn't a part of her Five Year Plan.
And finally, there's school itself. And the questions: Can Samantha endure her evil professors? The crippling course load? The crap served out daily in the campus cafeteria? Samantha's not so sure. All she knows is that getting to the future she so desperately wants is going to be an eventful, frightful, and fanciful four years?
The Best Years is about forgetting who you were, discovering who you want to be and finding the friends that'll help get you there.
