The frozen, lifeless body of a snowboarder lays face up, dead eyes staring straight ahead. The ivory-white snow behind his head painted with an abstract, violent brush stroke of crimson red blood. A death on the slopes is always newsworthy, but this is a death that sends shockwaves rippling through the community.
After all, this isn't any old stiff, this is Beck Mackay, the Beck Mackay. At only 18 years of age, already a local snowboarding legend, Olympian and a shining symbol of the burgh's future hopes and dreams. Too bad the "pride of Whistler" went and accidentally smacked his head against a tree.
Or did he?
That's the question his younger brother, Quinn, is determined to answer. Stepping out from under his older brother's shadow, Quinn goes in search of the truth and finds more than he bargained for. Turns out Beck's life was full of secrets, lies and plans unknown to family and friends. As Quinn delves deeper and deeper into the hidden life of his beloved brother he finds a side of Whistler, and its inhabitants, that he's never known.
It seems that Beck wasn't the only one hiding some things. In short, there's a lot of messed up people in town and Beck's death is the jumping off point to reveal what's been bubbling beneath the surface. The locals, rich and poor, young and old, all have their own stories to tell and each of these stories is connected to other stories, creating an intense, intricate web of desire, deceit and danger.
