Haley Meyers is finally getting away
from her hectic job and getting a well-deserved vacation at a beautiful
winter lodge. There she meets successful lawyer Jack Collins, who comes
to her rescue when her purse is stolen in the hotel bar. After a
whirlwind romance, Jack asks Haley to marry him. Convinced this is the
man of her dreams, she says yes. Both eager for a family, they start trying to have children soon
after they marry. It doesn't happen quickly, and Haley begins to feel
that she's disappointing her husband. He's pressuring her, not only to
conceive, but to conceive a son. Reassured by her sister that it's just
a matter of time, Haley and Jack continue trying and finally Haley
becomes pregnant. Jack turns a bit over-protective, but (Haley is
relieved to see) mostly his charming self. It's smooth sailing until
Haley tells Jack that the doctor suspects the baby is a girl. Jack is
angry, and Haley can do nothing to stop her husband withdrawing from
her. What Haley doesn't know is that Jack has been keeping a secret
from her since the day they met: In order to inherit his family's huge
fortune he must have a son before the death of his grandfather. His
grandfather is ill and that date is approaching too quickly for Jack's
comfort. Jack will use any means necessary to have a son and collect
his inheritance. Starting an affair with his secretary, he leaves
Haley, asking for a divorce. Hearing about the affair from her sister,
Haley determines to not take it lying down. But Haley doesn't yet know
the lengths that Jack will go to for his inheritance, and she must
fight to save her own life and the life of her unborn child.
