SARA (high school senior) has been madly in love with popular classmate BRIAN (17) ever since pre-school and dreams of marrying him. Problem is, he doesn’t know she exists. In class Sara is assigned a husband for a "future dreams" project and can’t believe her luck when it turns out to be Brian. Sara hates high school and loves writing the assignment -- planning her future where she believes life will be wonderful.
When a magical solar eclipse suddenly sends them from high school 1990 to their wedding day in 2007 (wow they really did get married!), Sara finds that her dream came true but discovers she and Brian are not prepared at all for what adulthood has in store.
Now in her mid-thirties, Sara finds herself in the middle of an election for Lt. Governor (her dream coming true of a life in politics) and Brian finds himself a wealthy investment banker.
They both discover the adult life is hard to navigate since they missed 17 years of life lessons.
Sara's learns "be careful what you wish for" and in the end they are able to return to high school. Neither remembers their incredible journey, but for some reason Sara doesn't mind high school now and happily her future life begins to blossom.
